Written in older English style, like a KJV Bible. No Greek or Hebrew. KJV based. Mostly passage by passage format. By John Calvin / Banner Of Truth

Calvin writes from a reformed point of view, giving detailed commentary on the theological issues dealt with in the book. His work takes into account the historical and linguistic issues relevant to the study of Daniel. This is a well informed book very valuable to anyone interested in Calvin and his thoughts or good Reformed exegesis. This volume has been reprinted from the Calvin Translation Society two volume edition of 1852-1853, edited by Thomas Myers.

By J.A. Alexander / Banner Of Truth

Part of the Geneva Series, this commentary comes from the reformed-Calvinist tradition. It is meant to be used by preachers and scholars alike. The commentary takes the book of Acts verse by verse, using the original Greek to bring out as much of the meaning of the text as possible. The author also brings knowledge of the ancient Biblical world into this understanding. J.A. Alexander, an excellent linguist and scholar, wrote the commentary in 1857 and although some of the information is outdated, the insight and scholarly approach to the book of Acts is extremely valuable.

5916: Ephesians, Geneva Commentary Series Ephesians, Geneva Commentary Series
By Charles Hodge / Banner Of Truth

The great theme of Ephesians is the one church, the new spiritual temple God is erecting of Jew and Gentile. Hodge's approach is more theological than textual critical or technical. Yet as a competent linguist he is qualified to shed such light on the text as well. Verse by verse. Considerable reference is made to Greek words and phrases, though this volume would still be of great value to the layperson. Charles Hodge was one of the great Princeton theologians.
